For more than 50 years, Meals on Wheels LaPorte County has delivered nutritious meals, friendly visits, and the dignity of independence to homebound neighbors across our community.
More than a meal — a mission
What began in 1973 as a small volunteer effort in LaPorte County has grown into a vital community lifeline. Today, Meals on Wheels LaPorte County delivers more than 100,000 nutritious meals each year to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities — five days a week, rain or shine.
But our mission has always been about more than food. Every meal comes with a wellness check, a friendly face, and the reassurance that someone in the community remembers and cares. For many of our clients, the volunteer at the door is the only person they see all day.
We are funded through a combination of individual donations, community grants, government support, and partnerships with organizations like the United Way. Every dollar stays local, serving neighbors right here in LaPorte County.
